To Agent 0x07,
I remember back in LA years ago, you told me that you didn’t know exactly how our two businesses connected, but you knew that they did. And I didn’t know back then either. But it’s obvious now, after getting the youtube ecosystem out of my system. The entertainment industry. Story-telling.
As of late I’ve been working with a buddy on telling his family’s biographical drama, from the 1980s in South America. Each week he records his father telling it like it was, and each week we work on editing, chapter titles, timeline, etc.
Eventually we’ll plug it into a script and reimagine some dialogue. Or maybe it’s an auto-biography initially, to be floated around to publishers one day. Maybe it’s an audio drama or “narrative podcast” similar to how Amazon’s Homecoming started out. Would be curious of your thoughts on this.
Also this year I began submitting apps for grants but that free money was freakin’ competitive as you’d imagine. So for now I’m done on this strategy and recalibrating a resume to find a job and work my way up as you once suggested. Then one day I will fund my own stuff.
Stuff to be done in “Peep Show” style obvio, and either as a love story (Big Apple of My Eye) a musical duo (Flight of The Conchords), a private eye story (Perry Mason POV, Undercover Coverage) or a video game in real-life for a younger audience (Streets of Courage/ All The World’s A $tage). Whatever it is initially, it will be the 1st feature film/ TV series to be shot entirely on a pair of glasses.
In conclusion, I’m wondering if you’d be interested in the idea of taking me on as a client on the side. I’m looking for a secret agent man who could help me re-present myself and essentially land on my feet in LA, with a proper salary this time.
In return for this kind of collaboration and professional support, I would give a % of total earnings vested over a 2-year period (similar to a poker stake). A business plan would need to be fleshed out, but maybe there’s an equal opportunity here.
I can send my resume/ portfolio in the meantime, which I am currently redesigning to tell the story of a BBA degree (2005–2009) turned professional poker player (2009–2014) documentary filmmaker of shorts, commercials, music videos (2014–2019) and independent subscription consulting (2019–2020).
There’s more than enough on everyone’s plate right now, so it’s all could either way. Just wanted to reach out and say thanks again for the hospitality and help years ago. Also with my newfound excitement for the entertainment industry, which is your domain, and hopefully a career I can stumble my way into come 2021.
That’s all I got for now. Thanks for reading and I look forward to catching up soon.
